HALO Project
This partnership signifies our commitment to fostering a nurturing environment where children thrive, not just academically, but also physically and emotionally. Our focus will be on promoting three key elements: Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, and Oral Health.
Moving and Grooving: Embracing Physical Play
We believe that physical activity isn't just about exercise; it's vital for developing gross motor skills, coordination, and a love for movement. Our updated play and learning policies actively support physical play, both indoors and outdoors. We have carefully designed our outdoor and indoor environment to get children moving, including:
- Balance boards for developing stability
- A small-scale physical trail to encourage exploration
- A climbing wall for building strength and confidence
- To dedicate ample time for both gross and fine motor movement during every session.
- To increase awareness among staff and parents about the importance of physicality in early childhood.
- Children eagerly seeking out physical challenges and opportunities for movement.
- Improved physicality and gross motor skills development.
- Increased participation in a wide range of physical activities, from climbing and running to cycling and ball skills.
Nourishing Bodies and Minds: Embracing Healthy Eating Habits
Snack time is more than just a break; it's an opportunity to introduce healthy eating habits and encourage children to try new foods. We are committed to providing a balanced selection of fruits, vegetables, and salad items alongside bread, crackers, and cheese during our snack times.
- To foster a positive relationship with food by encouraging children to enjoy healthy snacks and participate in cooking sessions.
- To promote healthy eating and lifestyles amongst our children and their families.
- A wider variety of healthy options in children's lunchboxes.
- Increased openness to trying new and healthy snack choices.
- Children making more informed and healthier choices.
This collaboration with East Sussex Public Health represents a significant step forward in our commitment to the well-being of our children. By prioritising healthy eating and physical activity from an early age, we are helping to lay the foundation for a lifetime of health and happiness. We are excited to see the positive impact this initiative will have on our children and families.
