A Tale of Resilience and Exploration

It's been an exciting week at Honeybees, where our little learners have been busy delving into the world of rhymes and stories. Our exploration of the classic nursery rhyme "Humpty Dumpty" has taken a fascinating turn with the introduction of "Humpty Dumpty After the Fall," a heartwarming tale of resilience and perseverance. This story has sparked important discussions about the importance of getting back up again, even when things seem impossible.

In our water play area, the children have been developing their gross motor skills and bilateral coordination by whipping up bubbles and colours, creating a mesmerizing display of texture and movement. But that's not all - our young scientists have also been scooping melons of different varieties to discover how each has a unique resistance when scooped. Using tweezers to pick out seeds and measuring the juice, they've been developing their fine motor skills and learning about the properties of different fruits.

Meanwhile, in the construction zone, our builders have been hard at work rebuilding the wall for Humpty Dumpty. As they work together to create a sturdy structure, they're also investigating the mystery of who pushed Humpty Dumpty off the wall. Using finger painting to create simple patterns, they're refining their understanding of pattern creation and developing their accuracy skills.

As we continue to explore and learn, we invite you to join in on the fun at home. Why not try:

  • Creating a collage of different textures, like fabric, paper, and foam, to explore the concept of resistance and sensation?
  • Building a tower using blocks or LEGOs and testing its strength to see if it can withstand a "great fall"?
  • Making a simple pattern using paint, markers, or crayons and experimenting with different colors and shapes?Reading "Humpty Dumpty After the Fall" together and discussing ways to overcome obstacles and challenges.
