Willow Class have a visit from a WW2 vehicle
Before half term Willow Class, we were very lucky to have a visit from a parent who drove their Scammell Pioneer World War vehicle into school to show us. We had a great time looking at the finer details whilst making comparisons to our own present day vehicles. In Literacy we have been continuing with Handa's Surprise, exploring Kenya and learning some new words in Swahali such as saying Hello !HABARI! and counting. We enjoyed looking at some exciting and delicate artefacts from Africa and created our own class 'African Museum'. We have been writing some sentences using adjectives we collated, to describe Handa's walk such as: scorching, arid and dusty. This is to make our writing more exciting and challenging!
In Maths we have continued to explore shapes, constructing and deconstructing images using shapes. The children had a go at creating their own 2D shape images and were very proud of these. As a class we read the story 'Grandpa's quilt' and then collectively we created our own class quilt with each child creating their own square piece and sticking them all together to make our own 'Class quilt'.
