Willow class round up!

In Willow Class this week, the children have showed great enthusiasm for our Talk for Writing text: Handa's Surprise. We have begun the week by drawing the story map, ordering the animals and fruits and making up our own actions to retell the story. Handa's surprise has allowed us to explore 'adjectives', explaining the different types of fruit and recalling our own words we used to describe those delicious, exotic fruits from last week such as: juicy, squishy and smooth. We have begun to explore adjectives to describe Handa and have created some creative posters with some fantastic words, such as: thoughtful, helpful, and compassionate!

For Maths this week, we have explored using shapes for a purpose and we have learned some new vocabulary such as: rotated and positioned. This has allowed us to think critically when selecting resources to use whilst building, especially in the garden. The children have been thinking hard and are now more able to explain the purpose of the different shapes and why they were selected.
