Year 6 Visit Glyndebourne & Other news!

Year 6 had the exciting opportunity to travel to Glyndebourne to watch an operatic production of The Railway Children. The visuals were very innovative and the children were engaged from start to finish. Year 5 have been enjoying taking part in Bikeability and learning how to stay safe on the roads.

This week the children have been learning how to order, add and subtract fractions. They are becoming much more confident with fractions as the topic progresses and we are proud of the way they are persevering and doing their very best to understand what can be a tricky unit. In English we are looking at character description and analysis and thinking about how we can say quite a lot about a character implicitly rather than always being explicit with our descriptions.

Our focus this term in PSHE is Health and Wellbeing. This week we have been trialling different relaxation strategies such as five-finger breathing, chair yoga, listening to meditation music and mindful colouring. The children have enjoyed finding some new strategies to add to their stress-busting toolkits. Geography's focus is on the Alps this term. If anyone is passing a travel agency and would pick up a couple of brochures on the Alps we'd be really grateful - we'll be using these towards the end of term.

Finally, in Computing we are looking at how information is transmitted from Mars Rover Curiosity. The children will research how to send information over long distances using binary data.
